Trouble Conditions

A trouble condition, or trouble code, is indicated by the word CHECK and continual beeping from the touchpad. Press any key to silence the beeping. A display of CHECK + zone no. may indicate that a problem requires your attention. Press the asterisk key (*) to view any open or troubled zones. Check the specified zone area and close any open doors or windows. If your system includes wireless sensors, the CHECK condition may be caused by some change in the environment of the protected area.

To silence trouble beeps, press any key or enter your security code and press [OFF].

Power and Battery Issues

Trouble Message Diagnosis Troubleshooting
AC Loss or h2 Power LED is:
  • Red Flashing - No AC AND battery is low
  • Red Steady - No AC OR battery is very low
  • Green Flashing - No AC; unit operating on battery power

The panel or keypad has AC disconnected or not available

The touchscreen is not receiving power from the transformer and is running on the back-up battery. Verify that the transformer is plugged in firmly and that the outlet has power.
Keypad Low Batt May give a zone, device or wireless keypad description

Replace the battery in the wireless keypad

Low Batt The wireless zone associated with the Low Bat message currently has a low battery. Replace the battery on the sensor or keyfob. Please refer to Sensor Battery Replacement for instructions.
System Low Battery The back-up battery in the panel is low Replace the backup battery.

 

Device Issues

Trouble Message or Icon Diagnosis Troubleshooting
Tamper + zone Panel Tamper

The cover has been removed from the main keypad or touchscreen, or the specified zone, possibly because the battery was being changed.

  1. Replace the keypad,  touchscreen or sensor cover. The trouble condition should clear.
  2. If the trouble condition does not clear, or the panel is damaged, please call 1-800-ADT-ASAP for assistance.

This indicates a device is in a trouble condition.

Hardwired Zones - Check for any damaged or exposed wiring call 1-800-ADT-ASAP for assistance.

Wireless Zones - The device cover was removed, or it is npt communicating with the panel. Please call 1-800-ADT-ASAP for assistance.

h4 Keypad Supervision - Panel component is loose
  • Has anyone bumped the panel?
  • Please reset the panel on the base
If the problem persists, call 1-800-ADT-ASAP for assistance.
Not Ready A zone not closed. For example, a door or window is open, preventing the system from being armed

Verify that the door or window is securely shut.

If the problem persists call 1-800-ADT-ASAP for assistance.

 

Communication Issues

Trouble Message or Icon Diagnosis Troubleshooting
Comm Failure or FC The system has attempted to send a signal to ADT and failed.

It is possible that there is a cell outage in your area. Allow time for the outage to clear, then run a communication test from the panel.

If the connection is not restored, please call 1-800-ADT-ASAP for assistance.

Rcvr JAM or Check 90 or 2100 or 2105

Radio frequency jam

The alarm system’s wireless receiver has detected interference for one of these potential reasons:

  • Too close to a powerful wireless router or HAM radio
  • Keyfob button is stuck
  • Wireless sensor is malfunctioning
This issue should clear up when the interfering signal has stopped. If it does not, check for any wireless electronics that may be causing interference, and move the items or turn them off. If none are found, call 1-800-ADT-ASAP for assistance.
2101 Ethernet comm trouble. The Wi-Fi is not connected.
  1. Be sure the Ethernet cable is plugged in
  2. Verify that you can connect to the internet from another device
  3. If your internet is out, please contact your internet provider
2103 The panel is not able to communicate with ADT due to a bad cell signal
  1. Reboot the panel
  2. Run a Communication Test

 

Troubleshooting Actions

Communications Test

Please test your system at least monthly to ensure proper communications with our monitoring station.

To run a Communications Test:

  1. Be sure your Command panel is disarmed
  2. On the keypad, tap the master code, then 5, then 2
  3. The test will begin. The message "Communication Test in Progress" displays.
  4. When the test is successful, "Cellular Communication Passed" and "Broadband Communication Passed" displays.
  5. If a test failed, please call 1-800-ADT-ASAP for assistance.

 

System Reboot

To correct certain trouble conditions, you may be asked to reboot your Command system. A system reboot will shut down the Command panel and bring it back up again. Connections with the internet and system devices will be disconnected. They will be re-established when the system comes up again. System programming, such as user codes, panel options and Wi-Fi configuration will not be changed.

To reboot the system:

  1. Be sure your Command panel is disarmed.
  2. On the keypad, tap the master code, then #, then # again.
  3. Once the reboot is complete, the system ready message will display.
